A resident of the Mayfield Healthcare assisted living facility set a toilet on fire in his apartment July 31.
The nursing staff was able extinguish the fire but had to escort other residents out of the building due to the heavy smoke.
The man, 65, claimed he had not set fire to the toilet but rather a specialist had.
Officers located a lighter between his wall and bed and the fire department took the man to a hospital for a mental health evaluation and treatment of smoke inhalation.
No charges were filed due to the man's known health issues, but the incident is under review by the prosecutor.

A woman tried stealing $306 worth of household items from Target July 31 but abandoned everything when confronted by loss prevention.
She left in a vehicle being driven by a man. Officers were able to stop the vehicle in the area and arrest the Cleveland woman, 26, who claimed that she had not tried to steal anything.
Loss prevention explained that she had loaded a shopping cart with items and then began to bag everything with bags she brought with her into the store. They said that they had been watching her because they recognized her from past unreported incidents.

An employee of BP 7-Eleven said Aug. 2 that a woman had stolen a bottle of wine and four Buzz Ball cocktail drinks.
Police are working to identify the suspect based on her vehicle registration.
They were with others and left in a vehicle registered to a Cleveland woman. Based on the vehicle registration, officers were later able to identify the suspects as Cleveland residents and issue warrants for their arrest.

A Party Place employee reported Aug. 5 that her bicycle was stolen while she was working at the store.
The girl, 16, said that she had left it against a wall on the side of the building.
A pull-behind concrete mixer was reported stolen from a work site in the 30000-block Aug. 6.
A resident of the Drake apartments reported Aug. 6 that his vehicle was entered in the parking lot overnight and a gun, pair of Air Jordan shoes, Apple Watch and credit cards were stolen from it.
The man, 24, was cited for failing to secure the firearm and the incident is under investigation.
