Edmonton Oilers coaches wearing ridiculous third-jersey themed tracksuits | Sports

The Edmonton Oilers are set to debut their brand-new third jerseys on Tuesday night, but their coaching staff had a bit of a fashion foul at the morning skate.

It appears the team wanted everyone to match the theme of the new cream-coloured alternate uniform. While the players were testing out their new equipment before the game, the coaching staff was decked out in head-to-toe cream tracksuits that made them look like painters on ice.

Sports 1440's Jason Gregor snapped a picture of the tracksuits in action, and they look as ridiculous as you'd imagine.

The new third jersey has drawn a mixed reaction among Oilers fans. It is one of the first Edmonton uniforms to not feature the iconic Oilers logo, and it is the first in franchise history to use cream as its base colour.

Instead, the team will wear a brand-new wordmark design on their chests, as well as a newly designed shoulder patch that pays tribute to the fan base. Oilers reporter Tony Brar took fans inside the Edmonton dressing room, where he revealed that each player's stall will look a little different tonight as well.

This will be the first third jersey for the Oilers since they wore a navy blue and orange design between 2019 and 2024. Between that time, the team also wore a few reverse retro jerseys.

It won't be an easy debut for this sputtering Oilers team, as a red-hot Utah Mammoth team is coming into Rogers Place tonight. Fans will be hoping that this new jersey gets off to a good start and that the Oilers can ward off a jersey curse.

But, if we are to read into those coaches' tracksuits, things may not be off to a stylish start.
