The Tennessee Titans suffered through a miserable 3-14 campaign that prompted major changes in the organizational structure within the front office. Now, this new team, led by president Chad Brinker and general manager Mike Borgonzi will set out to retool their roster.
Along with Brinker and Borgonzi, the Titans added new assistant general manager Dave Ziegler and vice president/football adviser Reggie McKenzie to the staff. It was a complete overhaul aimed at building a consistent contender.
Armed with the No. 1 pick in the draft and roughly $50 million in cap space, the Titans have different ways to attack this rebuild. Of course, the first order of business is identifying their needs.
Here is a list of what we at Titans Wire believe are their biggest needs heading into the start of free agency.

The offensive line is a mess, especially at the right tackle position. Nicholas Petit-Frere was a disaster at right tackle and no other player stepped up to seize the opportunity in his place. Right guard Dillon Radunz and top interior reserve Daniel Brunskill are free agents and could depart, while starting center Lloyd Cushenberry is recovering from a season-ending injury.
Many will say quarterback is the biggest need, but Tennessee must address this unit if they want to find any type of success on offense. If they don't, no quarterback will be successful.
Quarterback

Both Will Levis and Mason Rudolph struggled in 2024 and the Titans must get better under center. Levis will return in 2025 and is currently the only quarterback under contract. Rudolph is a free agent and will likely depart after failing to unseat Levis when given the chance. Change is inevitable, the major question centers on how the new regime decides to address it. Will he be one of the top prospects in Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders or a veteran bridge quarterback?
Edge

Harold Landry and Arden Key are both scheduled to return in 2025, but the team could benefit from an influx of talent at the position. Neither Landry nor Key were able to consistently generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks in 2024 and that led to breakdowns in the banged up secondary. Adding a dynamic edge could give a boost to an already ascending defense.
Wide receiver
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley (0) runs after the catch against the Houston Texans during the second quarter at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025.
Calvin Ridley is an explosive playmaker, but he can't do it alone. After trading away DeAndre Hopkins, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine stepped up and was solid. However, he is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent and is better suited to be inside a rotation vice being an every down threat. Adding another dynamic receiver across from Ridley could help open up both the passing and running games for whoever takes over at quarterback.
Safety

The Titans have Amani Hooker, but not much else. Veteran Quandre Diggs, who started the season before ending the year on injured reserve, is scheduled to be a free agent and may not return, leaving the Titans extremely thin next to Hooker. Adding some quality depth could go a long way in solidifying the defense.

On paper, the Titans are in a good place, but as they found out in 2024, names on paper do nothing when injuries set in. Starters Chidobe Awuzie and L'Jarius Sneed both missed large chunks of the season and that sent ripples throughout the defense. Rookie Jarvis Brownlee has been solid on the outside and Roger McCreary was steady in the slot, but the team could use more quality depth to help insulate from injury.
Kicker
Tennessee Titans place kicker Nick Folk (6) kicks a field goal during the first quarter at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024.
Nick Folk had a great year in 2024 and was one of the true highlights of the season. Unfortunately, he is an unrestricted free agent and at 40 years old, he might not want to return. Even if he does return, he should not be viewed as a long term solution for the position.
