Wiltshire Council announces completion of 215 affordable homes

Wiltshire Council has announced the completion of 215 affordable homes across the county.

This achievement is part of a larger plan to provide high-quality, energy-efficient housing for local residents.

The completion of eight homes at Corsley Heath marked the achievement, with a further 576 homes currently in development.

The council plans to build 1,000 homes to tackle local housing needs and support those affected by the cost-of-living crisis.

The council wants these homes to be energy-efficient to help residents cut their bills.

The Corsley Heath development includes eight homes, five for social rent and three shared ownership.

These homes were built using modern construction techniques by Rollalong and are mostly complete upon delivery.

They are then fitted with a traditional roof and decorated.

The road within this development has been named "Maud Davies Close," after the early 1900s social researcher of Corsley, to commemorate local history.

Gareth Flowers, director of Fisher and Dean, said: "Congratulations to Wiltshire Council for hitting such an important milestone.

"Fisher and Dean are proud to have been involved in this project, a continuation of our desire to provide much needed affordable housing to rural communities."

The council has also started building 16 affordable homes at Quakers Road, Devizes, in partnership with Redcliffe.

This takes the total number of homes built with Redcliffe to more than 100.

The council is committed to delivering energy-efficient homes in suitable areas to help residents who might otherwise struggle to find safe, secure accommodation.

Jon Burcombe, chief operating officer of Redcliffe Homes, said: "Our partnership with Wiltshire Council has grown from strength to strength over the past five years, and we're proud to be working together to deliver sustainable, high-quality homes that people are proud to call home.

"We share the council's vision in creating developments that enhance residents' lives and build a sense of place.

"We look forward to continuing this successful partnership across our six upcoming developments in Wiltshire."

Councillor Adrian Foster, cabinet member for strategic planning, development management and housing, said: "Providing affordable, energy-efficient homes is one of the most important things we can do to support people across Wiltshire.

"These new homes are helping residents stay in their communities, lower their bills, and feel secure about the future.

"Our focus is on delivering well-planned, sustainable developments that meet local needs and improve quality of life.

"Each new scheme makes a real difference to the people who live there."
