CLEMSON - Clemson tight end Christian Bentancur spoke with the media following Monday's practice inside the Poe Indoor Practice Facility.
The media spoke to the redshirt freshman for about five minutes. Below is some of What We Heard from his interview.
Question: What is your mindset heading into this August camp?
Bentancur: "I have put in a lot of work in the off-season. I am just trying to do what I can for the team. Whatever it is, blocking, pass catching. I am just trying to work my tail off and get some reps out there."
Question: Fall camp in August. Were you expecting this kind of weather?
Bentancur: "No, honestly. It's God right now helping us out with this weather. On hot days it builds toughness, but not complaining that much."
Question: How are you feeling right now, just a few days into fall camp?
Bentancur: "I'm feeling great. The team's looking great. Iron sharpens iron. I think we got the best offense and defense in the nation. We just have to go out and prove it."
Question: As far as the tight end room, what are you noticing from that?
Bentancur: "Top down, we have some of the best tight end depth in the nation. Just gotta keep working every, single day and showing people we're a tight end powerhouse school. I think people will start seeing that as we go along with our season."
Question: How do you treat this? Do you go into this saying "My goal is to be the starter"?
Bentancur: "We're all trying to push each other. Obviously, there's competition in the room but that's just making us all better. We're not really worried about whoever the starter is."
