SCHENECTADY -- Assemblymember Angelo Santabarbara hosted a fraud prevention seminar at the M&T Bank Center on Monday afternoon, a reaction to the many phone calls the assemblymember said he received from constituents concerned about and victims of fraud, he said.
Education is one part of the solution; the other is using legislation to make it punishable, he said. Santabarbara recently introduced legislation that would penalize deceptive mail that looks like checks, refunds and rebates, but he said that's just the start of what he has planned.
