Party leader receives heads of delegations to Hanoi Convention signing ceremony

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam of Vietnam on October 25 received heads of delegations attending the signing ceremony and high-level dialogue of the UN Convention against Cybercrime, known as the Hanoi Convention.
On behalf of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam, General Secretary Lam warmly welcomed international guests to Hanoi and expressed appreciation for their participation in this historic event.
He emphasised that the presence of representatives from more than 100 countries demonstrates global solidarity and the strong cooperative ties between Vietnam and the international community.
The signing of the Hanoi Convention, following nearly five years of negotiations since 2019, marks the establishment of a universal legal framework for preventing and combating cybercrime, while safeguarding sovereignty, security, and safety in cyberspace, he said.
General Secretary Lam affirmed that Vietnam's achievements and growing international standing have been supported by the friendship, cooperation, and assistance of the global community. He noted that peace and security are vital preconditions for national development, and that Vietnam would continue to make active contributions to cybersecurity, sustainable development, and international cooperation for a peaceful and prosperous world.
He expressed confidence that the Hanoi Convention would open a new chapter in global cyber governance, turning cyberspace into a domain of law, cooperation, and development.
He called on countries to ratify the Convention soon so it can take effect. He also reiterated Vietnam's commitment to working with all nations and international organisations to harness the potential of cyberspace while combating cybercrime for global peace and human well-being.
"Vietnam remains steadfast in its path of renewal and openness, promoting international cooperation for peace and development," General Secretary Lam said, expressing his belief that the Hanoi Convention would help build a safer, more secure, and prosperous digital future for all.
President hosts banquet for delegates to Hanoi Convention signing ceremony
