PHOENIX -- Banner Health has broken ground on a 120,000-square-foot "full-service" medical campus in Scottsdale, the company announced on Wednesday.
The new health facility will include a surgery bay, a pharmacy and imaging area, a cancer center, urgent care (open every day) and primary and specialty care, according to a press release.
Known officially as Banner Health Center plus, it is scheduled to be finished in early 2027 and will be located at Hayden Road and Mayo Boulevard.
The first phase of the project was unanimously approved by the Scottsdale Development Review Board back in September 2024. Some design elements of this initial phase include "shaded pedestrian pathways" and EV charging hubs.
Phase two, which will add a 350,000-sqare-foot hospital and 106 inpatient beds, is set to be voted on later in 2025 by the Scottsdale City Council.
Amy Perry, Banner Health president and chief executive director, in the release said the substantial undertaking is "supporting the economic vitality" of the communities it serves.
"With more than 50,000 Banner members living in Scottsdale who rely on us of their care, this campus will reduce travel and seamlessly provide outpatient services in one place, giving Scottsdale families easier access to everything from urgent care to advanced cancer treatments," Perry said in the release.
Once fully operational, the medical campus will employ 2,500 people and generate "more than $750 million into the Scottsdale economy."
