Two men charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Brockton last year were indicted on Friday, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz's office said.
A Plymouth County Superior Court grand jury indicted Govanni Carapinha, 24, and Marcus Miranda, 21, on one count each of murder, Cruz's office said in a statement. Both were previously arraigned on related charges to the shooting after their arrests and are both being held without bail.
At around 11:51 p.m. on July 24, 2024, Brockton police received 911 calls about a shooting at a home on Vesey Street, the statement read. Officers found Romualdy Pierre-Charles, 22, dead and shot several times.
Brockton police and Massachusetts State Police, while investigating the shooting, looked at surveillance video of the area that showed three people wearing black clothes go to the home and chase Pierre-Charles into his backyard, Cruz's office said. During this incident, Carapinha was shot in the leg.
Miranda and another man in black clothing helped Carapinha get into a gray Infiniti, in which they all drove off to Boston Medical Center for Carapinha to have his leg treated, Cruz's office said. After he left the hospital, he was arrested.
Miranda, who was trying to board a plane to Portugal at Logan International Airport, was arrested on July 29, 2024.
Both men will be arraigned in Superior Court at a later date.
