ORLANDO LA FLEUR scored a brilliant hat-trick and captured the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award as Hillview College began their push for promotion to next year's Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Boys Premier Division, with a commanding 7-0 victory on Wednesday over Presentation College, Chaguanas, the 2025 Central Zone Championship Division winners.
Having claimed the East Zone Championship Division title for a second consecutive year, and missed out on promotion only on goal difference last season, unbeaten Hillview started strongly.
Aaden Jones opened the scoring in the fifth minute, and by half-time, they led 3-0 thanks to goals from Kermarley Pierre (17th minute) and Jahmarley Ellis (43rd).
In the second half, La Fleur completed his hat-trick (48th, 52nd, 90th+1), while Darnell Walcott (61st) also found the net to seal an emphatic win for the East Zone champions.
Meanwhile, North Zone champions Mucurapo West Secondary also took a major step toward potential promotion to the Premier Division after opening their campaign with a 3-1 win over South Zone champions, Palo Seco Secondary.
Having edged out their more renowned neighbours, East Mucurapo to win the 2025 North Zone Championship Division title, Mucurapo West showed their quality once again. After Ezekiel Garcia gave the South champions an early lead in just the third minute, MVP Caleb Jacob responded with a brace (22nd, 62nd), and Eli Williams (56th) added another to complete the turnaround.
The series continues tomorrow, with Mucurapo West hosting Hillview.
