Court documents: Woman flew across country for fistfight outside Vancouver elementary school

A woman who apparently traveled from the East Coast to Vancouver for a fistfight outside an elementary school was shot in the foot while leaving the melee July 30. Vancouver police arrested an Oregon woman in connection with the shooting.

Michelle Romero Sosa, 19, of Beaverton, Ore., appeared July 31 in Clark County Superior Court. She is charged with five counts of first-degree assault and one count of drive-by shooting, court records show.

Judge Robert Lewis set Romero Sosa's bail at $150,000. She is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 13, court records show.

Police responded July 30 to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center for reports of a woman who arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to her right heel. The woman's bloody sock had a hole in it. She also had a large bump and several scratches on her forehead. Hospital staff found a bullet in her sock, according to court records.
