Miley Cyrus Breaks Silence on Sobriety

Miley Cyrus is embracing sobriety with open arms, and calling it the most important force in her life right now.

In a candid interview with Apple Music 1's Zane Lowe, the Grammy-winning singer described her sober lifestyle as something spiritual and essential.

"Sobriety is... that's like my God," Cyrus said. "I need it. I live for it. It's changed my entire life."

Cyrus, 31, admitted that she's had moments in her life she's not proud of. Periods that were painful, messy, and far from the person she wanted to be. But she also sees them as necessary steps on her path to healing.

"Life had more to teach me," she said. "I know I needed to fall one more time. It just never would've happened this way otherwise."

The journey wasn't easy. Cyrus said there were stretches between her last conversation with Lowe and this one that were filled with regret. But ultimately, that emotional upheaval helped her write "Flowers," the hit single that became a self-empowerment anthem and a symbolic turning point.

"It healed me so much," she added.

Cyrus has spoken about sobriety in the past but rarely with this kind of reverence. It's clear that for her, sobriety isn't about following rules. It's about anchoring herself in something that brings peace, clarity, and creative renewal.

The singer has long been known for her reinvention, from Disney Channel star to genre-defying artist, and this chapter seems to be her most grounded yet. With "Flowers" as the centerpiece of that healing process, Cyrus is both reflecting on her past and owning the future.
