Nirvana Reunites with Post Malone for SNL 50 Concert

The surviving members of Nirvana reunited once again -- this time with Post Malone -- during the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary concert at Radio City Music Hall on Friday night. It's getting a lot of social media buzz.

The performance, introduced by comedian Adam Sandler, was a highlight of the evening as Post Malone joined Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear onstage for a rendition of the band's classic, Smells Like Teen Spirit. Sandler reminisced about Nirvana's legendary SNL appearances during his tenure as a cast member in the early 1990s before welcoming the band to the stage.

The surviving members had performed together sporadically, including at Nirvana's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2014 and the 2018 Cal Jam festival. They have also collaborated under the moniker "Sirvana" with Paul McCartney in the past.

Post Malone's involvement with Nirvana's music is not new; in 2020, the singer streamed a widely praised lockdown tribute performance featuring 15 Nirvana covers, with Blink-182's Travis Barker on drums. Grohl himself praised Malone's set at the time, calling it "super cool." That performance will be released on vinyl this April as a Record Store Day exclusive.

The reunion and rendition earned mixed reactions on social media. Some loved the rendition, others panned it.
