Dricus Du Plessis won't be Sean Strickland's only rematch at UFC 312 as he offers to fight fan again

Dricus Du Plessis won't be Sean Strickland's only rematch at UFC 312 as he offers to fight fan again

The former UFC middleweight champion is always an unpredictable personality on fight week.

Sean Strickland made quite the impression when he made the trip down under to compete in Australia at UFC 293 in September of 2023.

The middleweight title challenger managed to galvanise a lot of support from the Aussie fans, crediting them with helping him to defeat Israel Adesanya in one of the biggest upsets in recent years.

However, before he put on a dominant display to dethrone the defending champion, Strickland also got into it with a few locals.

The controversial contender is now set to compete in front of the Australian fans once again this weekend when he faces Dricus Du Plessis for the 185-pound gold in the main event of UFC 312.

Their high stakes rematch has been the focus of fight week thus far but the challenger seemingly has some other bouts to run back simultaneously.

Along with claiming he assaulted a fan once he arrived in Australia before his fight with Adesanya, Sean Strickland also dished out some damage live and on stage.

The title challenger's open workout consisted of him giving some gloves to a member of the crowd before playfully trading punches with him, calling the fan on to hit him before landing a few of his own in return.

Submission Radio reposted the video as a reminder of what went down the last time that a Strickland fight week took place in Sydney before we see him and Dricus Du Plessis go face-to-face for a second time.

The challenger went on to share it on his Instagram story, adding a caption which insinuates that this chapter isn't over and that the two men will throw down once again.

Considering what happened shortly after the last time that he boxed with a fan on stage in Australia, if it ain't broke...

"Rematch tomorrow. We will see if you improved"

Sean Strickland's one-sided display against Israel Adesanya shocked the entire combat sports world but it was clear that something strange was afoot throughout the fight week.

In what many assumed would be a hostile crowd towards the American import, the Australian fans rallied around the underdog and treated him like one of their own.

This will seemingly be the case once again in Sydney this Saturday night especially with how Dricus Du Plessis tends to thrive off of being the bad guy.

Strickland said in his post-fight interview after beating Adesanya that he did it for the fans who supported him throughout the entire week.
