Tonight, the Victoria Street Bridge in Trail will be bathed in blue as part of a nationwide tribute recognizing World Occupational Therapy Day.
The striking blue light is more than just a visual display, it's a show of support for over 20,000 occupational therapists (OTs) and occupational therapist assistants (OTAs) across Canada who help people participate in the activities that shape their daily lives.
The illumination is part of a larger initiative organized by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT), now in its third year.
A total of 60 landmarks across the country are lighting up to honour the impact of occupational therapy in Canadian communities.
"When these 60 iconic structures light up blue, they will represent the ripple effect created by the more than 20,000 OTs and OTAs working across Turtle Island, the land also known as Canada," said Lisa Diamond-Burchuk, CAOT board chair.
"Every day, they empower people to participate fully in the activities that matter most to them."
World Occupational Therapy Day, launched in 2010 by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, is observed annually on Oct. 27.
This year's theme, "Occupational Therapy in Action," highlights the profession's hands-on, people-first approach to improving lives.
The Victoria Street Bridge's participation is a proud moment for Trail, joining cities and towns across the country in spotlighting this essential profession.
