The Canadian government has issued some information for Canadians who are in Hong Kong as the storm rages through the area.

The Consulate General of Canada to Hong Kong and Macao, which is located in Hong Kong, temporarily closed on Monday, Sept. 8.
During the temporary closure, consular services may be limited.

The Canadian government says for emergency consular assistance, people should contact the Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Ottawa.

Some 60,000 people were evacuated across the region around Hong Kong Sunday, and the storm made landfall in the city of Taishan just before 9 a.m. local time Monday. Maximum sustained winds reached 30 metres per second, according to media reports out of Hong Kong.
