Angela Andolina Amsterdam - Angela Andolina, 81, of Amsterdam, New York, passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital on March 6, 2025 surrounded by her family after a short illness.
Angela was born on May 13, 1943 in Amsterdam, New York to the late Joseph and Antoinette (Aldi) Andolina.
She was united in marriage to James J. Giaimo, Sr. on June 6, 1965.
In her youth, Angela discovered her passion for dance. Her love for ballet, jazz, and tap continued throughout her life. Her biggest joy was taking her granddaughter to the New York City Ballet every summer at SPAC and sharing her love of dance with her.
Angela was a 1961 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Angela excelled at making connections with the people she worked with at The Printing Company, Mohasco Industries, The Recorder, Amsterdam High School, and most recently as office administrator for her son's dental practice, Vincent J. Giaimo, D.D.S., L.L.C., retiring in 2020.
After her retirement, she volunteered at the St. Mary's Hospital Gift Shop. She was an active member in the Christian Women Society at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
She was a former parishioner of St. Michael's Church until its closure and then became a parishioner and communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Amsterdam.
Angela truly enjoyed fine dining, entertainment, dance, music, and traveling. Angela was lovingly called Nonna to her grandchildren and great grandson, who loved spending time with her. She attended every game, halftime show, and school concert.
Angela is survived by her two sons, Dr. Vincent J. Giaimo (Michele) and Dr. Joseph G. Giaimo. Grandchildren, Gabriella E. Giaimo, Andrew J. Giaimo, Daniel V. Giaimo, and great-grandson, Richard C. Altieri, Jr. also survive. Brother-in-Law Michael Andolina (Mary) and sister-in-law Elizabeth Andolina also survive. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive. Angela was predeceased by her parents, husband, brother, Salvatore Andolina, and her son, James J. Giaimo, Jr.
The family extends their gratitude to all of her caregivers.
Family, friends, and other lives Angela touched are invited to the DeStefano Funeral Home at 1414 NY-5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010 from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Funeral services and mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. The mass will be officiated by Very Reverend O. Robert DeMartinis, E.V. Entombment will take place at the New Community Mausoleum-Mary Immaculate, Patroness of America at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery at 2501 Troy-Schenectady Road, Niskayuna, NY 12309.
