For an Action Star, Úrsula Corberó Is Pretty Laid Back

The Spanish actress and model went for modern glamour at her first annual Screen Actors Guild Awards

Úrsula Corberó has never been one to shy away from a bold Loewe look. For her first SAG Awards, the Spanish actress and model turned heads in a knitted mini trapeze dress with iridescent mother-of-pearl-effect sequins to celebrate her nomination for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series for her role in The Day of the Jackal. Corberó is no stranger to the thriller genre. Whether it's portraying Tokyo, the unofficial leader of the team behind Spain's largest bank heists in the Netflix series Money Heist, or The Baroness, a highly skilled agent of the terrorist organization Cobra in the 2021 G.I. Joe live action film Snake Eyes, it's safe to say that she knows her way around an action role. But in her current portrayal of Nuria, the unsuspecting wife of the elusive assassin known as "the Jackal" (played by Eddie Redmayne), she's trading in her usual action-packed roles for a more vulnerable and emotional one.

One thing she's not willing to part with? Her undying love for Loewe. Since she's starred in multiple campaigns and sported various Loewe looks on the red carpet, it's no surprise that once again Corberó collaborated with the house to create an unforgettable look at this year's 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Below, Corberó tells Bazaar about creating her first custom look with Loewe, her experience on set, and what's next in store for her.

Loewe is like family to me. These were my first awards in the USA, and being surrounded by my team and by such an iconic Spanish brand like Loewe made me feel super confident and at home. I feel myself -- I think that's the key when you're on a red carpet. Loewe has a perfect mix between freshness and design. The materials they use are exquisite but at the same time their pieces are effortless and natural.

This is my first custom and the process was beautiful. I had a meeting with Helena Tejedor (my stylist) and we shared our thoughts with Loewe. Then Jonathan did the magic with this stunning white dress.

I admire a lot of people but I think each person has their own style and personality and I know pretty well what fits with my style and what I want to express in each event.

Can you believe that I met most of the cast at the SAG awards? But working with Eddie and my beautiful Spanish family has been a dream. They're the most caring and talented castmates I could ever have. I'm very lucky.

I think we have nothing to do with each other. But if I had to choose something in which we are alike, it would be the energy. I think we both have lots of vitality.

I think nobody knows that -- it's always a risk. The director has most of the responsibility in that case but I always trust in chemistry and goodwill.

In the world of the espionage genre, we are not that used to seeing how the main character has to deal with his personal life while he is trying to accomplish and survive his missions. This new Jackal has a family to protect and that makes this show very intense. I think that's interesting to watch.

I'm working on my serenity. Just taking some time off to think about what I want and to take care of myself. It's not easy when you're used to working non-stop, but right now that is what I need.
