Several area high school basketball players remain among the top 100 in California in various statistical categories.
Santa Maria senior Johnathan Lupercio is third in the nation, unofficially, in made 3-pointers this season. Lupercio has made 115 treys.
Lupercio finished the 2024 season as the national high school leader in made threes. He unofficially led again last week. This week, there are two new listees on Maxpreps.com at the top, Branden Thomas of McMullen County, Texas who has made 149 3-pointers and Carter Guillery of Reeves, Louisiana who has made 118.
Baylor signee Tounde Yessoufou of St. Joseph needed 22 points at press time to become the CIF Central Section's all-time scoring leader. Yessoufou had 3,313 points during his St. Joseph career at press time. The Knights were to play a Mountain League home game against Arroyo Grande at home Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
