Will the Washington Commanders make another big move, trading for Cincinnati Bengals' All-Pro edge rusher Trey Hendrickson?
Last week, general manager Adam Peters pulled off a big trade to help quarterback Jayden Daniels and the offense, landing wide receiver Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers. On Thursday, the Bengals allowed Hendrickson and his agent permission to seek a trade.
Immediately, the Commanders were mentioned as a potential match for Hendrickson for many reasons. One is that they need a dominant edge rusher, and Hendrickson's 35 sacks over the last two seasons are the most for any NFL player during that time.
Secondly, Washington has the cap space to sign Hendrickson to the type of deal he's earned.
After the news broke Thursday that the Bengals were interested in moving Hendrickson, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports listed five teams who were the best fits for Hendrickson. No surprise, Benjamin had the Commanders at No. 1.
Hendrickson would allow Washington to keep its first-round pick while also adding an impact defender who will not be available in free agency next week. Making a move for Hendrickson makes too much sense for the Commanders.
