KANSAS CITY -- The Tipton Lady Cardinals finished their regular season Saturday night with a 61-34 victory against the Notre Dame de Sion Storm.
Ava Schlotzhauer scored 11 points in the first quarter, powering the Lady Cardinals to a 22-8 lead at the end of eight minutes. She had a double-double by the midway point of the second quarter, finishing the game with 22 points and 17 rebounds.
Schlotzhauer is averaging 19.8 points and 11.8 rebounds per game entering the postseason to lead the Lady Cardinals.
Tipton used an 8-0 run in the second quarter to extend its lead to 36-18 by halftime. The Lady Cardinals ended the third quarter on a 17-3 run to take its largest lead of the game at 61-29.
Notre Dame de Sion held Tipton scoreless in the final eight minutes, but the Storm only finished with five points in the fourth quarter.
Charlee Bailey added 15 points for the Lady Cardinals and Clara Williams finished with 13 points.
Abby Wendte scored a team-high 11 points for Notre Dame de Sion (13-11), followed by Taelyn Smith with eight points.
Tipton (22-4), ranked No. 2 in Class 2, is hosting the District 8 Tournament this week. The top-seeded Lady Cardinals received a first-round bye and will play in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Thursday against the first-round winner of fourth-seeded Eugene and fifth-seeded Cole Camp.
