A four-alarm fire in Queens early Sunday injured five firefighters, the FDNY said.
Crews responded around 6:15 a.m. to 114-46 Sutphin Blvd., where Assistant Chief Malcolm Moore reported "heavy fire showing from the first floor of a two-story mixed occupancy" that quickly spread to the second floor and into neighboring structures.
A second alarm was sounded within five minutes and the blaze eventually escalated to four alarms, drawing 49 units and approximately 170 firefighters to the scene, officials said.
The conditions of the firefighters were not immediately available.
The fire was under control by 8:02 a.m. The cause is under investigation.
