As much as I love full glam, there's nothing like nailing everyday makeup, in my opinion. Finding a look that's perfect for the office, an impromptu date night after work, or any other daily escapade just does something for my soul. Up until recently, I thought I had my routine perfected with a few simple products -- concealer, brow gel, mascara, lip liner, a clear gloss, and one of my trusted foundations, depending on my mood. Now, however, thanks to R.e.m.'s new Dreamglow Highlight Serum ($26), it appears my makeup routine was missing one thing -- a good, all-over highlighter.
Initially, fluid highlighters make me think of 2016's beauty era when nasal tips and under eyebrows were covered in shimmer. Since I didn't start wearing makeup until five years ago, I never participated in this highlight craze and it's never really piqued my interest. Naturally, I was a bit apprehensive about trying this R.e.m. serum, especially since it has so much glitter (and because I never mastered the technique). Yet, I was also intrigued because I'd never heard of a highlighter-meets-serum product, and who doesn't love playing with makeup? Fortunately, I pushed past my apprehension and joined the highlighter club -- and I do not regret it.

As a committed fan of natural-looking makeup, R.e.m.'s Highlight Serum has me completely obsessed. After completing my skin-care routine, I proceeded to pump some of the serum onto my face, after which I felt an instant cooling effect. The glow was already noticeable, but rubbing it in brought my complexion to a new level of luminosity. My skin tends to get paler when it's cold out, so it's always satisfying when a product gives me a warmer look. Of course, the R.e.m. serum did just that and more. I used the shade Honeypot, and it blended seamlessly into my complexion with no film or residue left on my skin. I also loved that it gave me such a warm glow that I didn't need foundation. After applying, I went in with my usual makeup products and was ready for the day.
