Authorities are investigating after a Bergen County woman who may have fallen onto the train tracks in Glen Rock Dec. 11.
Glen Rock police responded to the borough train station for a report of an injured woman at 5:53 p.m., according to a joint press release from the department and New Jersey Transit. Officers John Tarantino and T.J. Graziani located the woman, a 76-year-old Waldwick resident, with a head injury and laceration and pulled her from the train tracks.
NJ Transit Police determined the woman was walking with a cane in a narrow space between the rail and a fence near the crossing at Rock Road, the release stated. She lost her balance after a train passed, which caused her to fall onto the tracks.
Train traffic was temporarily stopped, and the woman was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center from the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Law enforcement officials have not determined whether she was struck by the train.
The incident remains under investigation by NJ Transit Police.
