The US Department of Labor and the state of Maryland recovered $520 million in fraudulent unemployment insurance payments, the latest in the Trump administration's efforts to claw back unused or defrauded federal cash from programs created during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The DOL's Office of Inspector General and the Employment and Training Administration worked with Maryland agencies to return the funds to state and federal coffers through an agreement negotiated with a financial institution, the DOL announced Thursday.
