Al Asfoor: "Supermoon" to Light Up Bahrain's Sky Next Wednesday

Astronomer Mohammed Redha Al Asfoor announced that Bahrain's sky will witness a spectacular "Supermoon" on Wednesday evening, November 5, 2025, coinciding with the full moon of Jumada Al-Awwal 1447 AH.

He explained that this event occurs when the Moon reaches its perigee -- the closest point to Earth in its orbit -- at a distance of about 356,840 kilometers, making it the closest full moon of 2025.

Al Asfoor noted that the Supermoon will appear 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual, compared to when it's at its farthest point, known as a "Micromoon."

The Moon will reach full illumination at 4:19 p.m., rise at 4:36 p.m. just before sunset, and remain visible throughout the night until 6:37 a.m. the next morning.

He added that this rare celestial display offers a perfect chance for photographers and stargazers to enjoy and capture the Moon's brilliance -- a striking reminder of the beauty and wonder of creation.
