The upcoming Vision series on Disney+ just announced some exciting casting news, including recasting an Academy Award nominee and also the confirmation of a fan-favorite anti-hero joining the franchise. While all eyes are on The Fantastic Four: First Steps and the upcoming releases of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, the television side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still going strong, and one of the most anticipated series is Vision, under the working title Vision Quest. Overseen by Star Trek: Picard's Terry Matalas, Vision will pick up with the story of the reprogrammed White Vision last seen in WandaVision back in 2021.
During a Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, via Comic Book Movie, Vision showrunner Terry Matalas confirmed that Star Trek: Picard co-star Orla Brady would be taking over the role of F.R.I.D.A.Y., Tony Stark's A.I. assistant after J.A.R.V.I.S. Bradly will take over the role from Academy Award nominee Kerry Condon, who had voiced the character since Avengers: Age of Ultron. In addition, previously announced cast member Todd Stashwick was confirmed to be playing the character of Paladin, an anti-hero from Marvel Comics who is both a private investigator and bounty hunter.
'Vision' Could Be One of the MCU's Most Exciting Titles
These casting revelations around Vision are big, both for the series and the wider MCU. The loss of Kerry Condon as F.R.I.D.A.Y. is certainly disappointing for fans who hoped to see the talented star finally make a physical appearance in the MCU after years of voice work. However, the actress previously alluded to not being part of Vision during the press for F1. With Brady stepping into the role of F.R.I.D.A.Y., it lends more weight to the idea that the Vision series focuses on the various artificial intelligences of Tony Stark being given physical form. The series will also feature T'Nia Miller as Jocasta, one of Tony Stark's A.I. options before choosing F.R.I.D.A.Y. Schitt's Creek star Emily Hampshire will play E.D.I.T.H., the A.I. from Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Todd Stashwick's confirmation to play Paladin is another interesting addition to the MCU. Created by writer Jim Shooter and artist Carmine Infantino, Paladin first appeared in Daredevil #150 back in January 1978 and has been an anti-hero and antagonist to many characters in the Marvel Universe. He is often a hired gun, drawing himself into conflict and allyship with the likes of the Punisher, Spider-Man, and Daredevil. He has been a member of the Heroes for Hire and even the Thunderbolts during the infamous Dark Reign storyline in the comics. His inclusion in Vision suggests that someone hired him to hunt down Vision, but who exactly raises further questions. If popular, Stashwick's Paladin could return as a fun cameo and connective tissue across a wide array of MCU titles.
Vision so far has no release date except for a 2026 release window. With Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 debuting in March 2026, it is expected to run until April 2026, similar to Season 1. This means that Marvel Studios could debut Vision shortly before the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July 2026. If Marvel Studios opts to release Vision after Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it might be one of the last titles released before Avengers: Doomsday looks to shake the foundation of the MCU. Even though it is unclear how Vision will factor into the larger MCU story, what they are crafting seems to be interesting on its own merit.
