Kiosk for job assistance available at Texarkana Public Library

TEXARKANA, Texas - The Texarkana Public Library is partnering with Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas to make it easier for people to apply for a job or benefits.

The library recently installed one of the agency's computer kiosks in its lobby.

Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas Executive Director Bart Spivey says they're capitalizing on familiar technology to connect people in Texarkana to services they rely on.

"It's really an effort to expose more people in the community to our resources, and this is a great place for them to start," said Spivey.

The computer kiosk includes a touch screen menu which allows users to search for jobs, fill out and print off applications, as well as apply for food, childcare and unemployment benefits.

The free self-service kiosks will reduce waiting times.

Library Executive Director Olivia Poulton says they're committed to providing access to critical resources for individuals and families.

"It's really been positive so far. We even have someone use it within the first 30 minutes of it being installed. She was able to go on and apply for her benefits and print out what she needed and get on her way pretty quickly," said Poulton.

Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas has a total of five computer kiosks set up at different locations across their nine-county service area.

You don't need a library card. Anyone can come in and use the new kiosk.
