Passenger stabbed, tried to carjack his Uber driver, cops say

A Bergen County man was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted murder after authorities said he attacked his Uber driver.

Marcus N. Marson, 25, of Leonia was charged with first-degree counts of attempted murder and attempted carjacking, third-degree aggravated assault, weapons offenses and resisting arrest after police found an Uber driver suffering from serious stab wounds in Fort Lee Tuesday morning, according to officials with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Fort Lee police responded to a stabbing on Duncan Avenue at about 9:17 a.m. Tuesday and found a 37-year-old suffering from serious stab wounds, officials said.

The suspect had already fled the scene, police said. Emergency responders immediately transported the victim to Hackensack University Medical Center where he remains in stable condition, authorities said.

The victim suffered multiple lacerations to the head as well as puncture wounds to his shoulder and arm, officials said.

Marson was eventually located and apprehended in a residential backyard on Buckingham Road after a brief foot chase with police, officials said.

Detectives said Marson was a passenger in the Uber and that the victim was driving when he was stabbed multiple times as Marson allegedly tried to carjack the vehicle, authorities said.

Marson was turned over to the Bergen County Sheriff's Office pending his first appearance in court, according to officials.

It was unclear if Marson had an attorney Tuesday night.
