SPRINGFIELD - Springfield-area residents are invited to an elegant evening this Fall, to support lifesaving neurosurgical services close to home. The Mercy Health Foundation of Clark and Champaign Counties has announced plans for its 2025 Gala, including the event's beneficiary - neurosurgical services at Mercy Health - Springfield Regional Medical Center.
"Our Gala is a cherished tradition that brings the community together for a memorable night while supporting the future of local health care," said Kristy Kohl McCready, President of Mercy Health Foundation Clark & Champaign Counties. "It's always inspiring to see so many friends and neighbors gather in the spirit of generosity and shared purpose."
This year's event will take place Saturday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. It will be held at the Clark County Fairgrounds - 4401 South Charleston Pike, Springfield, Ohio 45502. Valet parking will be available. Attendees will enjoy a night of cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, a gourmet dinner, as well as music and dancing. There will also be a raffle for a prize of $2,500, along with a silent auction and live auction
Proceeds from this year's Gala will help fund new equipment that will support neurosurgical capabilities at Mercy Health - Springfield Regional Medical Center. The money raised will go toward purchasing specialized surgical equipment and technology to support advanced neurosurgical procedures as well as neurological monitoring and diagnostic equipment to enhance neurocritical care services.
The neuroscience service line at Mercy Health - Springfield is rapidly expanding in both capabilities and patients served. The health system's nationally recognized stroke program recently earned Gold Plus with Target Stroke Honor Roll status from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association, along with Gold recognition for Rural Stroke Centers at Mercy Health Urbana Hospital. The addition of a vascular and interventional neurology program in 2023 has elevated stroke care by offering 24/7 access to advanced interventions, as well as diagnostic and treatment options for brain aneurysms, AVMs, carotid artery stenosis, and more.
Since early 2024, two board-certified neurosurgeons have joined the team, opening new spine/neurosurgery practices in Springfield and Dayton. Patients now benefit from minimally invasive spine surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery for select brain tumors, and expanded general neurology and acute care services. Investments in EEG, advanced imaging, navigation platforms, AI technology, and sleep center expansion are also positioning Mercy Health - Springfield Regional Medical Center as a regional destination and center of excellence for advanced neurological care.
"The support from this year's Gala will directly enhance our ability to provide the highest level of neurological and neurosurgical care right here in our community," said Chase Collins, Director of Neurologist Services for Mercy Health - Springfield. "From advanced stroke interventions to complex spine and brain surgeries, these investments in equipment and technology will help our teams deliver innovative, life-saving care close to home where patients are surrounded by their families and support systems."
