AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The third annual Horizon Trucker's clinic took place at Augusta University on Thursday.
Faculties and students from the colleges of nursing and more learned how to do Department of Transportation exams for bus drivers.
The health care clinic helped students get experience and helped out a vulnerable population of workers.
"This is a really vulnerable population because they don't have access to health care. So, let's bring them in and give them access to health care. We are just delighted to be able to do that. The cool thing about it is caring for them with our nurse practitioner students and the great research we do here. We're getting new knowledge to do better research too," said Dean of the College of Nursing Beth Nesmith.
The company president who helped with the event liked it so much that he requested all of the drivers in his business to go to the event.
