Scrap metal/battery collection
Ballinagree Community Development are holding a scrap metal and battery collection fundraiser as part of the Ballinagree Community Centre Development Initiative until October 11th. The drop off location is the farmyard adjacent to Michael and Nuala Creedons House Ballinagree.
Items suitable for collection include old machinery, car and tractor batteries, domestic appliances scrap metal wheel hubs, barrels copper including copper cables scrap cars cast iron and brass fittings. Hard luck to our Junior B Team who lost out in the Final against Canovee. Well done to the Junior A team who progress to the semi final of the championship.
On Saturday, November 1st, Murphy's Bar at the East End will be a scene of fancy dress, colour, fun and frolics as they stage a Halloween party for both male and females.
This lights up at 9.30pm and the evening will also include drink deals, spot prizes and a DJ to to enable you to dance the night away. Not to mention, of course "surprises" always guaranteed to appear on fun occasions such as this.
No doubt over the next few weeks the sewing machines will be busy trying to piece together "odds and ends" to make attractive outfits for the ladies while the men folk too could spring a big surprise or two.
All in all it promises to be a very enjoyable occasion, so, get out the stepladder, check the attic as there may be something from bygone days that still fits you or would do with a little adjustment. It's just three weeks to the big night so, don't delay, start work today.
Christmas Market
Sunday, November 23rd is Christmas Market day in the Pearse Memorial Hall where a full house of stalls will display their products which will hopefully help you with your Christmas presents.
The variety this year surpasses all expectations with jewellery, soaps and toiletries with a beautiful scent, Garden products, household items and an array of baking that will bring tears to your eyes.
Go along and check it out from noon onwards. Teas, coffees etc will also be available.
Blessing of the Graves
The annual Blessing of the Graves in Boherbue takes place on Sunday, November 2nd at 12 noon with the Mass for those who died during the year on Friday, November 21st at 7.30pm.
County final
BK Plunkets U14 footballers already crowned North Cork Champions face another gruelling test on this Saturday when they play Aghinagh in the County final proper at 1.30pm in Banteer. We wish them the best of luck.

The Araglen Desmonds Bui Ladies football club weekly couch to 5k has taken off like a rocket with big attendances on both Mondays and Thursdays with a 7pm start. The track is in excellent shape and the nightly fee is just €3 so it's no doubt the cheapest type of exercise classes on the market. Everyone welcome, Male and Female. Great fun, meet new friends and enjoy the fresh air and you are assured it is fresh up there on the hill.
Active Retired
The Boherbue/Kiskeam Active Retired group Christmas party will take place in the Pearse Memorial Hall in Boherbue on Thursday Dec 4th. The meal will be supplied by Denis Doody Catering. More details later.
Blessing of the Graves
The Blessing of the Graves in Kiskeam takes place on Sun Nov 2nd at 12.45pm. The annual Mass for those who died during the year will be in the Church of the Sacred Heart on Monday, November 17th at 7.30pm.

Cullen party
The annual Mass and Christmas Party organised by the Cullen and District Special Needs Association takes place on Saturday, December 6th in the local Community Centre.
All their special friends are invited but if there is someone out there not on their list you are invited to contact any Committee member who will only be delighted to add you to the guest list.
The above Committee do great work over the year, a lot of which goes unnoticed, for their special friends and this is very much enjoyed and appreciated by the families involved. The Mass gets underway at 1.30pm followed by a meal, party games and entertainment.
Each guest will receive a Christmas present to round off a memorable occasion.
