Is Bill Croskey-Merritt playing tonight? Commanders' rookie RB behind Austin Ekeler on depth chart originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Washington Commanders have an exciting rookie running back.
But he didn't see the field in the first quarter of Thursday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers. Austin Ekeler got all the snaps at the expense of Jacory "Bill" Croskey-Merritt.
JCM had 10 carries for 82 yards and a TD in Week 1. What gives?

Jacory "Bill" Croskey-Merritt is active for Thursday night.
It is true that he didn't play in the first quarter.
The Commanders had just two awful drives, though. They got behind the sticks and kept Ekeler on as their pass-catching back.
JCM had a great Week 1, but he also only played 33% of the snaps, so not being out there for two drives isn't shocking.
If Croskey-Merritt stays on the sideline in the second quarter, that'll be a bigger concern.
He changed it right before the regular season, and he sure made it look sharp in Week 1.
