The Samsung P9 Express microSD Express SD card just hit a record low

Ensuring you have a Switch 2 SD card for the holidays will mean you can start your festive celebrations battle-ready and prepared to fight back against any storage woes. Get gifted a new game, but its upgrade pack needs installing? You'll be good to go. Want to spend that new gifted eShop voucher your granny got you on new digital games? It's all good, you'll have your Switch 2 SD card for that.

The only hindrance is that these new speedy cards are pretty pricey, but the Samsung P9 256GB microSD Express Card is down to $32.99 at Amazon today. Grabbing a card for this little is pretty unheard of, as even the best microSD Express Cards have only dropped as low as $39 over Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Out of any Switch 2 SD card from any brand, I've never spotted 256GB for as low as today, so I implore you to grab this deal (if your Christmas budget can spare it) before it disappears like Santa up the chimney.

The holiday period can be more important than ever for having extra storage, as if you own a Switch 2, it's highly likely you'll be gifted some new games or even Nintendo eShop vouchers to buy new games. New games mean you'll need to ensure you'll have enough storage to download them all, or their updates and DLC, and the best way to go about that is to ensure you have a microSD Express Card.

The Switch 2 has 256GB worth of onboard storage, and that's it. With no other models of the new handheld available at this time, that's all you get. Fortunately, the sizes of Switch 2 games aren't too horrendous, but it is already getting more storage demanding with every new release. Take Pokémon Legends Z-A. It only required 7.7 GB worth of space at launch. However, Kirby Air Riders, which released the following month on November 20, required 21.7GB, and if you get gifted a voucher to grab it on Christmas Day, you'll need to ensure you have the space to install it.

You will save a little more space by being gifted physical games, however, they still require you to have enough room on your handheld. For example, all Switch 2 upgrade packs are digital downloads. I own the original Switch cart for Super Mario Party Jamboree, but its Switch 2 upgrade pack required 7.9 GB of my Switch 2. Fortunately, I had a microSD Express Card so I was prepared, but that'd be a big chunk of my onboard storage gone if I hadn't been prepared.

Having a microSD Express Card, even if you're a physical game fan, will mean you can spend less time fussing on your remaining storage and more time just playing games, which is what the Switch 2 should be all about. For just $32.99, almost less than half the price of a new Switch 2 game, you can have that added bit of reassurance over the holidays, and that's more than worth every one of those $33 dollars in my eyes.
