Aiken, South Aiken go head-to-head in big city rivalry

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - When Aiken and South Aiken meet on the hardwood, there's no telling what the script is going to look like.

They met for the first time this season at Aiken High School.

It was a 9-point game by recess that turned into a 14-point lead by the third for the Hornets.

"The crowd was unbelievable," said Head Coach Robbie McKenzie.

Julian Graham aided the Hornets in the final two minutes to leave it 72 to 61.

Aiken moved to 5 and 4 in region play.

"These rivalry games, it's never over. They learn in these rivalry games that you have to keep playing, making adjustments and do little things that help yourself out," said McKenzie.
