Former Oregon corrections officer sentenced for sexual misconduct with inmate

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. (KPTV) - A former corrections officer at the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility has been sentenced to prison for sexual misconduct with an inmate, according to the Washington County District Attorney's Office.

On May 9, Levi David Gray pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree custodial sexual misconduct. Last Friday, a judge sentenced him to 20 months in prison.

The crime occurred when Gray served as the supervisor of the Special Housing Unit at the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, where the then 19-year-old victim was being held. The victim had recently been moved to the only cell in the unit without surveillance cameras.

According to the district attorney's office, Gray committed sex acts against the victim in her cell on May 23, 2023. Surveillance footage showed Gray taking the victim to her cell by himself and stayed in there for an extended period.

A witness who overheard the incident encouraged the victim to report the abuse, which she did.

Gray was placed on administrative leave, and his employment was later terminated.

In addition to his prison sentence, Gray will be stripped of his Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) certification and will be barred from serving as a corrections officer upon his release.

Gray was also ordered to serve three years of post-prison supervision, to undergo sex offender treatment and a mental health evaluation, and was barred from any future contact with the victim.
