Most football fans within view of the Manhattan skyline didn't have reason to celebrate early Sunday night, as the Eagles punched their ticket to the Super Bowl with a historic 55-23 win over the Commanders.
Most Giants fans were probably trying to get it out of their minds, after former Giant Saquon Barkley played a key role in getting Philadelphia to the biggest game of all.
But it turns out there is something that is worse than watching your former star running back live all his dreams with your most hated divisional rival. Looking up to see the Empire State Building pay tribute to that triumph.
Yes, it was more than a little awkward when the 1,200-foot art deco masterpiece, an icon since even before it was completed 93 years ago, lit its famous elevated facade in midnight green to recognize the Eagles' accomplishment.
It was so awkward that even the building's social media account couldn't help but apologize as it explained the current lighting situation.
"I'm sorry to have to do this," @EmpireStateBldg wrote on X, with an overhead view of the lighting in all its glory.
In the mentions downtrodden Giants fans expressed their displeasure.
But it got even worse for downtrodden Giants fans trying to vent in the mentions, as they couldn't even voice their displeasure without having to endure Philadelphia fans gloating.
"Thank you for Saquon NY," one fan, decked out in Phillies gear in his profile photo, wrote.
