Prince Andrew Stripped Of Royal Title Over Epstein Files Exposé: Here's What He Loses And Gets To Keep

Andrew's sexual abuses were documented in recently released Epstein survivor's memoir.

Prince Andrew (65) will now be only known by his original title, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, after The Royal Family decreed to strip away his titles following the exposé of the sexual abuses he subjected Epstein victims to. He was second in line of succession, being the third child and second son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

In 2014, Virginia Giuffre accused Prince Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was barely 17 and trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. The Epstein survivor who took her own life on April 25, 2025, documented the abuse in her recently released memoir, 'Nobody's Girl.'

Giuffre's first encounter with Epstein-Maxwell was when she was 16, working at her father's workplace, Mar-a-Lago, a Donald Trump establishment.

Guiffre, in a 2019 BBC Panorama interview, described the abuse at the hands of Prince Andrew. In 2022 she sued the royal family member, which was later settled for an undisclosed amount. In the same year Queen Elizabeth II stripped her son of honorary military affiliations, and he stopped using the title "His Royal Highness."

He used to receive an annuity of £249,000 until 2023, when King Charles III annulled it. However, he still receives a Royal Navy pension of £20,000.

Meanwhile, the message from the Royal Family, led by King Charles, the brother of Andrew, read as follows:

A Statement From Buckingham Palace

His majesty has initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew.

Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.

Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.
