Mario Lopez Shares Why Staying Healthy and Fit Is So Important to Him Now

Mario Lopez is no stranger to creating a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Lopez, 51, was recently announced as a brand ambassador for Hone Health, a telehealth clinic that specializes in "affordable longevity and holistic health."

"Hone Health's comprehensive telehealth platform provides accessible longevity treatments through at-home biomarker testing, doctor consultations, and personalized treatment plans," the clinic said in a press release. "Hone Health empowers men and women to take control of their health with a tailored mix of medication, lifestyle interventions, and community support."

The Emmy Award-winning host of Access Hollywood and actor has been outspoken about how important staying healthy and fit has always been to him.

"You quickly realize it when you're not healthy, how nothing else matters. And as I've gotten older, I think I've just even dove in a little bit more," Lopez exclusively told Us Weekly. "Now I want to live a long time. I got kids and the whole deal, it's important to me for my family, my own wellbeing. And what I love about Hone Health is that it aligns perfectly with my philosophy. It's about consistency and taking control of your health, making it a priority and doing little things every day to feel good, stay strong [and] be energized."

The Saved by the Bell alum told Us that he is feeling great, ahead of his 52nd birthday on October 10.

"If I wasn't getting older, I wouldn't be around," Lopez said. "And just like I said, as I'm getting older, I really have put even more of an emphasis on health and longevity."

Lopez told Us that he really enjoys doing jujitsu and boxing.

"I'm just a big fan of martial arts and the discipline and the respect that comes with it in the community," he said.

Lopez and his wife, Courtney, are on the same page when it comes to approaching health and wellness discussions with their three children -- Gia, 14, Dominic, 11, and Santino, 6.

"We're aligned in the way we're raising our kids and [Courtney] makes health a top priority too. And she's always exercising every day," Lopez said. "We met on Broadway and she was an incredible singer and dancer, so [it] was already part of her philosophy, and being and stuff. So we just sort of sharpen each other. We enjoy our long walks, working out together and all that, dancing and all that. It's great for our relationship."

Lopez told Us that he would love to live long enough to hit the triple digits.

"I want to be thriving and breaking triple digits. Why not? They're saying we're starting to live older, so why not," Lopez said.

Lopez continued by saying that he would spend that time doing much of what he is already doing.

"Enjoying my great grandkids, having fun dancing, doing the same jujitsu wrestling, doing the same things I love doing now," Lopez told Us. "That's the thing, because you want to be able to keep doing the things you love and you're passionate about. And I think that's what keeps you young and I think that's what keeps you going."

As for his diet, Lopez said he is not a "calorie counter."

"I'm not out there specifically watching every little thing I eat. I try to have a sensible looking plate with protein, carbs and fat, and maybe go a little nuts on the weekends," Lopez said. "I'm not a big junk food guy, but I don't discriminate when it comes to food. I like everything."
