SY repeats as league champion
The Santa Ynez boys wrestling team successfully defended their 2023-2024 Ocean League championship, defeating Nipomo 46-35 at Nipomo Thursday to finish 5-0 in 2024-25 league duals.

The Santa Ynez and Nipomo girls squads wrestled in an exhibition dual. Some extra Nipomo wrestlers filled in the Santa Ynez lineup. Team captains Malia Ortiz and Ariela Contreras, as well as junior Mary Carpenter, picked up wins for Santa Ynez.

Girls basketballVCA girls net third place at tournament
The Lions (18-7) defeated Loganville, Georgia 47-22 in the third place game at the Pensacola Christian College Tournament in Pensacola, Florida Friday.
Isabel Salazar led the Lions with 14 points, and Elle Mason scored 12. VCA rebounded after losing to Southington, Connecticut Central Christian Academy 57-37 in a tournament game Thursday.
Salazar and Mason scored nine points each for VCA in that one. Mckenna Fortier scored eight points for the Lions.
VCA will play at Coastal Christian Tuesday at 5 p.m. in a game that will decide the CVL championship. The Lions are 18-7, 11-0. The Conquerors are 13-1, 9-1. The game Tuesday will be VCA's regular season finale. The Lions can do no worse than a tie with Coastal Christian for the CVL title. The teams shared the CVL championship last year.
