"Israel has it; why don't we have it?"
In June 2024, during his re-election campaign, shri shri Donald Trump, who had earlier scraped the plans for a domestic iron dome like Israel's, emphatically stated, "We are gonna build an iron dome over our country."
The 47th president of the United States of America has now revealed that the plans will go through sooner than later. In his executive order, "The Iron Dome for America," the president has directed the development and deployment of the American iron dome. 60 days after the release of the order, the Secretary of Defence is directed to submit a reference architecture, capacity-based requirements, and an implementation plan.
The proposed American iron dome will defend the fifth largest country in the world from ballistic, hypersonic, and advanced cruise missiles, besides our next-generation aerial attacks from peer, near-peer, and rogue adversaries. The executive order also references the Star Wars program conceived during President Ronald Reagan's administration in 1983. Defense pundits are skeptical given the astronomical cost of a comprehensive iron dome shielding the country, as it will be more profitable for defence contractors and, of course, the middle men. Meanwhile, Trump claimed
"Everything will be made here in the USA. One hundred percent."
Of course, besides the made in China MAGA caps.
